ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS IN NORTH CAROLINA

Meet Imani – Compassionate Healer for Self-Discovery and Personal Growth

Imani’s therapeutic practice is rooted in the belief that every individual possesses an inherent capacity for healing and self-actualization. She views the therapeutic process not as a clinical intervention performed on a person, but as a collaborative journey taken with them. She provides a non-judgmental, warm, and accepting environment where clients are free to explore their fullest selves. She believes that being seen and understood without the threat of rejection is the primary catalyst for change. By valuing humanity regardless of the challenges a person may face, a safe harbor for honest reflection and vulnerability is created.

Imani operates from a value-based and person-centered perspective. While she acknowledges and addresses symptoms and pain, the ultimate goal is growth and self-acceptance. She focuses on expanding resilience, deepening self-awareness, and cultivating the internal resources necessary to navigate life's inevitable complexities. Imani believes the client is the expert on their own lived experience, and she is there as a facilitator through the healing journey. Together, she partners with clients to define personal goals and markers of success, challenge old patterns through mutual curiosity, and ensure that the pace and direction of practice always honors individual autonomy.

Q&A with Imani

  • My ideal clients include women of color, teens navigating life transitions, college students finding their work-life balance, and working adults learning to make time for their needs. I do my best work with clients who are curious about and invested in their healing journey, even when it takes time for that curiosity and investment to develop.

  • My skill set aligns closely with those seeking support for depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, and those finding their way through different life changes and challenges. Through the therapeutic process, I work with clients to build a sense of self-efficacy and strengthen resilience.

  • I see clients as experts in their lived experiences, and I honor what their journey so far has taught them about their current needs. I encourage clients to advocate for what they want to see in session, and I do my best to bring forth the interventions and tools that align with the client's desired outcomes.

  • Clients can expect unconditional positive regard and a safe space to unload and unpack. While every session may look different in what we discuss, there will always be safety in self-exploration and room to grow at a pace that feels right for the client.

  • Trust can take time. I build rapport and create a safe space by walking through the therapeutic process slowly with clients, providing plenty of space for questions and honoring any feelings of nervousness or hesitation that may arise. I listen without judgement and allow clients to share without shame, so that we can work together to craft a space that feels welcoming and secure.

  • I empower clients by highlighting their inherent value and building their sense of self-efficacy, helping them see how much power they already hold and growing their belief in themselves to achieve more than they thought possible before. I help clients see that growth isn't always linear, and that they are worthy of celebration no matter what stage of growth they find themselves in.

  • I employ humility and curiosity to de-center my own beliefs and biases, and I approach each session with an eagerness to learn and support clients from all backgrounds.

  • I provide flexible scheduling during evenings and weekends to meet the demands of busy work and family schedules, understanding that there may be competing demands that act as barriers to treatment.

  • I aim to help clients build a healthy, supportive relationship with themselves first, knowing that from this they can impact their relationships with others over time. I seek to connect clients with a strong sense of self-worth, enhance their self-acceptance, and build their awareness that they are their own strongest ally.

  • Therapy can be intimidating, and it may take a while to open up. I'm happy to walk slowly through the process with you, knowing that trust is built over time and will ultimately give way to growth!
