ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS IN NORTH CAROLINA

Meet Destiny – Therapist, Mental Health Advocate & Athlete Ally

I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe to show up fully, be heard, and start healing. That’s what I aim to create—one conversation at a time.

I’ve worked with individuals across all ages, with a special focus on youth and young adults. My experience includes schools, hospitals, and community-based settings—each one shaping how I understand the many ways mental health impacts our lives, especially in spaces where support hasn’t always been available.

Lately, I’ve found a new passion: supporting athletes. From the field to the court, I’ve seen firsthand how the mental game can weigh just as heavy as the physical one—whether you play football, basketball, volleyball, or anything in between.

Everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard.

In our sessions, I show up with empathy, authenticity, compassion, and a deep respect for you and your story. This space is your safe place—to be heard, to be seen, and to be fully yourself. It’s a partnership built on trust and honesty, where we work together to unlock what may be holding you back and create space for growth, healing, and clarity.

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is this: “You have to listen to understand and not just to respond.” It’s a principle I carry with me into every session.

Using a strength-based, solution-focused approach, I walk with you through life’s challenges—helping you build insight, tap into your own resilience, and grow at your own pace.

This is your space. Your pace. Your time to heal. Let’s get to it.

Q&A with Destiny

  • I’m especially skilled in supporting individuals navigating high-performance environments, such as athletes, who are dealing with stress, burnout, and relationship challenges. I’m also well-suited to help clients who are seeking balance, emotional clarity, and practical tools for resilience and personal growth. My approach works well for those motivated to create change and open to evidence-based, goal-oriented strategies.

  • My approach blends empathy with evidence-based methods like CBT and SFBT, providing a space where you can process your emotions, gain clarity, and work towards finding balance. Together, we’ll build resilience and create positive change.

  • I tailor my approach by first creating a safe, empathetic space where clients feel heard and understood. I take time to learn about their individual experiences, strengths, and goals, which helps me customize evidence-based interventions like CBT and SFBT to fit their specific needs. I’m flexible in adjusting techniques and pacing, ensuring the therapy process aligns with their readiness and preferences. This collaborative and client-centered approach helps empower clients to build resilience and achieve meaningful change.

  • In a typical session, clients can expect a warm and supportive environment where they are encouraged to share openly. We’ll work together to explore their current challenges, process emotions, and identify goals. I use evidence-based techniques like CBT and SFBT to help clients develop practical strategies and build resilience. Sessions are collaborative, focused on your unique needs, and paced to ensure you feel comfortable and empowered throughout the process.

  • I build rapport by creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. I understand that trust takes time, and I aim to foster a therapeutic environment where that process isn’t rushed. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable being themselves, knowing they can open up at their own pace. From there, we can work collaboratively to explore their challenges and move toward meaningful goals.

  • I use a strengths-based approach, helping clients recognize and build on their existing abilities. I integrate evidence-based strategies from CBT and SFBT to support problem-solving, build resilience, and encourage goal-setting. I also empower clients by fostering self-awareness and creating space for reflection, so they can make informed choices and feel more in control of their lives. Most importantly, I work collaboratively, so clients feel supported and capable throughout their growth journey.

  • I strive to make my practice inclusive and culturally responsive by continuously educating myself through reading, training, and staying open to learning about different backgrounds and experiences. Before meeting with a client, I do my best to familiarize myself with cultural practices or considerations that may be important. If there’s something I don’t know, I’m honest about it and approach it with curiosity and respect, always aiming to learn and better support my clients.

  • Yes, I aim to be flexible and responsive to each client’s unique needs. This can include adjusting the pace of sessions, providing additional resources between sessions, or modifying communication styles to ensure clarity and comfort. I also encourage clients to share any specific accommodations that would help them feel more supported, and I’m always open to collaborating on ways to make the therapeutic space more accessible and inclusive.

  • I aim to help clients build the skills and confidence they need to navigate life long after therapy ends. My goal is for them to feel equipped with practical tools to manage challenges—like knowing how to respond to anxiety or stress—and to approach life with greater self-awareness, resilience, and balance. Ultimately, I want clients to feel empowered to make choices that align with their values and support their overall well-being.

  • I want prospective clients to know that my approach is collaborative—we’re a team in the therapy process. I’m here to support and guide, but I deeply value your insight, experiences, and goals. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all; it’s a space where we work together to find what truly helps you grow, heal, and thrive.
